a really great take on Trump's latest proposal and a discussion about refugees etc. One other mention would be post world war 2 in Europe!! Millions of Germans had to flee variouls; naitons and millions of other nationalities had to move..But only the so called Palestinians were kept as refugees to be a constant threat to Israel.. Oh well...glad to see Trump doing one thing right!!!

You captured the essence of Trump's proposal: "And why would any government or aid agency consider investing in the rebuilding of Gaza with Hamas or the Palestinian Authority in control??" -- From everything I have read, Trump's closest advisors were completely or partially in the dark regarding his proposal. I think it is wrong to attribute strategic thinking to much of what Trump has been proposing. If anything, the flurry of highly visible "proposals," like the Gaza Proposal, distract from many other actions that he doesn't want the press to cover as they are highly unpopular with the public. -- Many of his "Executive Orders" hurt Red States more than Blue States and there is already movement among some GOP politicians to complain if not actively push back, realizing that their voting base in their home states will be impacted quite significantly. Governors are objecting because many of the across the board cuts proposed for the Federal Government will end up as additional costs to the states. -- As an example that you will appreciate, the indirects associated with university research grants have been slashed to 15%, again across the board. Wealthy (endowment-wise) universities (eg, Harvard, Johns Hopkins) will survive short term, but this will severely impact public higher ed. The economic benefit to the states (both red and blue) exceeds the Federal dollars spent.
